Does lakeshore humidity really affect a garage floor coating?

Constantly. Vapor moving up through the slab is the number one reason coatings peel near the water. We moisture-test before we quote, and if the reading is high we price a vapor barrier into the system instead of hoping for the best.

My place is seasonal and sits closed for months. Is that a problem?

No, but it changes the prep. Closed-up garages trap moisture and then take a hit of wet tires and salt on the first thaw. We test the slab in the condition it's actually in and grind to a real bonding profile either way.

Can you coat an older downtown garage that was already painted?

Yes. Old paint and failed coatings come off with the diamond grind — that's the step cheap installers skip. Small, stained, previously coated slabs are routine work for us.

How long does the install take?

Most Grand Haven garages are a 2-day install. Walk on it the next morning, park on it in 24 to 48 hours depending on temperature.

Garage Floor Coating in Grand Haven, MI

Grand Haven garages live with the lake — salt air off the channel, humidity that never really leaves, and winter brine from US-31 soaking into concrete that was never sealed for it. Epoxy hates moisture and UV; polyaspartic doesn't. Polyaspartic full-flake systems with a 2-day install, moisture-tested every time, backed by up to a 15-year transferable warranty.
